Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Directs, manages and evaluates students learning in the clinical setting.
  2. Prepares clinical teaching activities and approaches specific to the level of learner and course’s outcomes.
  3. Assists the student in integration of theory and practice, specific to the course’s learning activities and level of learners.
  4. Evaluate the student’s development of clinical reasoning skills.
  5. Directly observes and guides student’s learning activities with clients.
  6. Participate as a member of the course team in the course’s development and evaluation activities with the lead faculty.
  7. Collaborates with the unit manager and staff so that the presence of students and their activities are supportive of the unit’s goals and needs.
  8. Facilitates learner development holistically.
  9. Facilitates the work through guidance, leadership, collaboration and coordination of daily activities.
  10. Orient new students to the department, including the hospital policy, the availability and location of resources.
  • Use of therapeutic communication techniques in dealing with patients, co workers and significant others.
  1. Create a positive and supportive learning environment, including being an advocate for the students’ status as a learner.
  2. Make systematic observations and objective judgments about student performance.

Provide the students with the overview of nursing as a science, an art and a profession. It includes discussion on the different roles of nurse emphasizing on health promotion, illness prevention utilizing the nursing process as a basis for nursing practice.

Operating Theater and Delivery Room Staff Nurse

DATE: August 4, 2008 to October 25, 2010

Job Description:

  1. Operating Theater

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Assist in all General Nursing Activities of the Operating Theater
  2. Give direct care to patients to meet their physical and psychological needs.
  3. Act as a scrub assistant and circulating assistant during operation.
  4. Assist in care and handling of surgical supplies and equipments.
  5. Assist in caring aseptic technique and sterilization procedure in surgical operation and assisting surgery.
  6. Sets act Operating Theater with instruments and supply which according to type of operation.
  7. Arranges instruments and other article according to specific operation.
  8. Observes patient during surgical procedures for conditions such as hemorrhages and furnishes emergency equipment and supplies, which prevent fatalities, and keeps contaminated instruments and supplies in safe manner to prevent infection.
  9. Places patient in prescribed position to assure access to operative field, and in order to prevent interference in the circulation, respiration and protect nerves from undue pressure.
  10. Prepares operative areas by sterilization, linens and draping of patient.
  11. Preserves and labels operative specimen for laboratory analysis.
  12. Observes progress of surgery providing additional instruments, supplies and other items needed.
  13. Regulates and inspect fluids such blood plasma, saline, glucose and cardiac respiratory stimulants.
  14. Applies dressing if ordered by the physician.
  15. Insures that operating theater is kept scrupulously clean and coordinates operating activities with those of order department and services and the Medical Staff.
  16. Direct maintenance of required records and reports including work performance.
  1. Delivery Room

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Maintain effective Delivery Management
  2. Prepare patients for internal examination and other diagnostic examination.
  3. Prepares instruments equipment, articles needed during delivery.
  4. Assisting physicians on the following procedures:
  5. Normal Spontaneous Delivery
  6. Forceps Delivery
  7. Monitor patients’ condition inside the delivery room, by taking the fetal heartbeat as well as her vital signs (blood pressure, pulse rate, respiratory rate, and body temperature).
  8. Prepare and give medication.
  9. Transfer blood in case of emergency.
  10. Provide comprehensive nursing care to the post-partum mother.
  11. Participate in giving health teaching.
  12. Participate in teaching and supervising the student nurse, midwives, nursing aides.
  13. Charting and Recording
  14. Make inventories and requisitions of supplies.
  15. Responsible for the maintenance of the units and supplies in the delivery room.
  16. Responsible in the sterilization of instruments, supplies in the delivery room.
  17. Coordinate activities with other department.
